Why We Don’t Do Topping Changes at Maggie & Mo’s (And Why That’s a Good Thing)
At Maggie & Mo’s, we do things a little differently. You may have noticed that we don’t offer the option to change the toppings on our pizzas—and we want to take a moment to explain why.
We totally get that many people are used to the “build-your-own” model. At places like Subway or Domino’s, you become the chef, picking and choosing exactly what goes on your plate. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that—it’s a system that works for a lot of people. But at Maggie & Mo’s, that’s not the route we’ve chosen.
Here, we’re the chefs.

We spend a lot of time crafting and testing each of our pizzas to make sure the flavours balance just right. Every topping, every drizzle, every sprinkle is there for a reason. Whether it’s a bold chilli kick or a gentle swirl of basil oil, our combinations are carefully put together to deliver the best possible experience. We take pride in that process, and we hope you can taste the love and creativity in every bite.
Our menu has something for everyone—vegetarian, vegan, spicy, mild. We’ve made sure that whatever your preference, there’s a Maggie & Mo’s pizza with your name on it. And if you’ve got a genuine allergy or dietary requirement, we’ll absolutely do our best to accommodate that. We care deeply about making food that’s safe and welcoming for all.

But if it’s simply a matter of swapping out ingredients to suit a craving or tweak a flavour, we kindly say: that’s not really our thing.
Here’s why:
As a small business, we’re mindful of food waste. When you ask to remove an ingredient—say, no chillies on your pizza—it throws our prep ratios out of balance. That might leave us with leftover ingredients at the end of the day that end up in the bin instead of in bellies. It’s not just about cost; it’s about sustainability and respect for the food we use.
We also want to move away from the idea that everything always has to be tailored exactly your way, every time. Again—there’s a place for that! But Maggie & Mo’s is aiming to be something a bit different. We want you to come in, try something unexpected, and maybe discover a new favourite you didn’t see coming. Be bold, give one of our weekly specials a go—you might just surprise yourself.
So no, we don’t do custom toppings. Not because we’re being difficult, but because we believe in our menu, our flavours, and the creative process behind every pizza we serve. We promise that every choice we make is in service of making the best pizza we can, while being thoughtful about waste and proud of who we are.
